COVID-19 Takes a Toll on Spring Athletes

When schools began to close because of the coronavirus, extracurriculars and sports were put on hold, leaving students in the dark about whether they would be able to put on their spring musical or get to have a senior night at their last home game.

Ohio was the first state to close schools in response. Governor Mike DeWine extended the school closure to May 1, but that could change at a moment's notice, leaving high school seniors, like Erin Driehaus, wondering if they will get to play their spring sports season or have a graduation ceremony. (Driehaus is my younger sister.) She plays lacrosse at Mercy McAuley High School in Cincinnati, OH, and is trying to be optimistic about the whole situation.
